Computer Based Learning
Our district is blessed in that they provide a laptop for every student in third grade. Many of our daily practices and assessments are online. Some sites are available for further home study. However, other sites may not be accessible outside of school. Your student can log into Clever from home to access our favorite websites for home practice. Below is a brief description of our most popular sites:
Savvas Realize: Is our newly adopted reading program that encompasses reading, writing, and language. Each student receives their very own reading workbook consumable! This means they can highlight, underline, and jot down notes in their own textbook! Work may also be completed online.
Renaissance Learning: Students will visit this site daily to take reading assessments on books they read. Students are at specific reading levels and should test within those levels. Student will check out two books from our school library, one non-fiction and one fiction (specifically a chapter book). Reward parties are at the end of each quarter for those who meet the assessment goals and 100% of their reading goal. Students will also earn library points to redeem at the AR Store once per week.
Xtra Math & Reflex Math: Students will visit these sites daily. They are adaptive and individualized for mastering basic facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Assessments
These are assessments that we take weekly and/or quarterly, except AASA which is taken at the end of the year.
NWEA (MAP): This is our new benchmark testing site. We take 3 assessments at the beginning of the year, middle of year, and end of year to track your child's growth over the school year. Students take responsibility for their own growth by tracking their RIT scores & goals for each quarter.
Beyond Textbooks (BT): Third grade no longer uses our out-of-date textbooks. However, we do access our current standard curriculum from BT. Student assessments in reading and math are also obtained here. Click the link to read more information about BT. BT assessments are typically given weekly or at the end of a unit online through Power Assess or handed out as written test.
AASA: This is our BIG end of year assessment. Students will take the Arizona Statewide Assessment in April. Students will be tested in writing, reading, and math. We will give a "heads up" before they are taken, as well as provide you with helpful tips to make this assessment go as smooth as possible for your child.
